2013 Year in Review: July brings rash of violent attacks

first_imgOn July 8, it’s believed shots were fired outside and inside a home in the 9600 block of 96 Street. There were two separate incidents of shots being fired and pepper spray being used at the entrance of the Marquis Centre apartment building in the early morning hours of July 15 and 21. Later the evening of the 21st, shots were fired through the doors of two hotel rooms at Northwoods Inn, and shortly after Molotov cocktails were thrown at a house in the 101 block of 96 Avenue. There were also reports of shots fired at a home on 101 Avenue near Tim-BR Mart, but police were unable to find any evidence to support the claims.- Advertisement -The only connection immediately made was between the firearm incidents, as police believed they were linked to the drug trade. Other than that, no clear links have been made. RCMP maintained that the incidents all appeared to be targeted attacks and the risk to the general public was minimal.
